Dugger interjected that we were continuing to collect donations of any amount on Wednesday, to continue the program. Dugger suggested that between now and Christmas the collected monies go to the “Toys for Tots” program sponsored by the WVFD. Morris moved the club donate $200 to $300 to the “Feed the Cops” fund. If the member is current and in good standing and cannot physically attend the meeting, where a vote, by the members, is required, due to confinement in a medical facility, residence in excess of 100 miles of the meeting or physically unable to attend due to a confining illness an emailed or mailed via U.S.P.S. ballot is acceptable. The ballot must be received on or before the date the vote is taken.
Ron continued by offering cards on voter information and announced the BoD meeting would move from directly following coffee to 4 to 4:30 pm., on the given Wednesday. The question arose as to continue with speakers or abandon the format. The consensus was to continue as long as the subject was in keeping with our interests. The door prize drawings will continue through the Christmas party and will include the wives for a separate drawing. We still have 28 boxes of 7 mm mag ammo for sale at $12 per box, ($10 if you take it all). The Christmas party will circumvent a meeting in December. The party is scheduled for Thursday December, 3rd., location to be announced. The patches he researched are being offered by Mack Jordan at $3.85 each. REPORT ON THE CORONAVIRUS BY Chris Lefkow SUBMITTED BY WILLIAM ROGERS
October 28, 2020, 3:11 PM
Five Chinese agents were arrested on Wednesday for their roles in an operation targeting Beijing's opponents in the United States, US officials announced.
Assistant Attorney General John Demers said charges had been filed against eight people involved in an "illegal Chinese law enforcement operation known as Fox Hunt."
"Since 2014, at the direction of Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping, China has been engaged in a global operation known as Fox Hunt," Demers said at a press conference.
"China describes Fox Hunt as an international anti-corruption campaign in which it seeks to locate legitimate fugitives around the world and bring them to China to face genuine criminal charges," Demers said.
"But in many instances the hunted are opponents of Communist Party Chairman Xi -- political rivals, dissidents, critics," he said. "And in either event, the operation is a clear violation of the rule of law and international norms."
Demers said Chinese "repatriation squads" had entered the United States to "locate the alleged fugitives, and deploy intimidation and other tactics to force them back into China where they would face certain imprisonment or worse following illegitimate trials."
The Justice Department announcement comes at a time of rising tensions between the US and China over the coronavirus pandemic, which President Donald Trump has repeatedly blamed on Beijing.
Demers said five Chinese agents were arrested in the United States on Wednesday to face charges of "conspiring to act in the United States as illegal agents of the People's Republic of China."
Three of those charged -- Zhu Yong, 64, a Chinese citizen and permanent US resident; Hongru Jin, a 30-year-old naturalized US citizen; and Michael McMahon, a 53-year-old US citizen and licensed private detective -- were arrested in New York and New Jersey.
U.S. Voters Agree on One Thing: They'd Feel Better Owning a Gun SUBMITTED BY WILLIAM ROGERS
CHANTILLY, Va. — Like many Americans, two women a thousand miles apart are each anxious about the uncertain state of the nation. Their reasons are altogether different. But they have found common ground, and a sense of certainty, in a recent purchase: a gun.
Ann-Marie Saccurato traced her purchase to the night she was eating dinner at a sidewalk restaurant not long ago in Delray Beach, Florida, when a Black Lives Matter march passed, and her mind began to wander. It takes only one person to incite a riot when emotions are high, she remembers thinking. What if police are overpowered and can’t control the crowd?
Ashley Johnson, in Austin, Texas, worries about the images she’s seen in past weeks of armed militias showing up to rallies and making plans to kidnap governors. The outcome of the election, she thinks, will be devastating for some people regardless of the winner.
“Maybe I’m just looking at the news too much, but there are hints of civil war depending on who wins,” Johnson said. “It’s a lot to process.”In the U.S., spikes in gun purchases are often driven by fear. But in past years that anxiety has centered on concerns that politicians will pass stricter gun controls. Mass shootings often prompt more gun sales for that reason, as do elections of liberal Democrats. Many gun buyers now are saying they are motivated by a new destabilizing sense that is pushing even people who had considered themselves anti-gun to buy weapons for the first time — and people who already have them to buy more.
The nation is on track in 2020 to stockpile at record rates, according to groups that track background checks from FBI data. Across the country, Americans bought 15.1 million guns in the seven months this year from March through September, a 91% leap from the same period in 2019, according to seasonally adjusted firearms sales estimates from The Trace, a nonprofit news organization that focuses on gun issues. The FBI has also processed more background checks for gun purchases in just the first nine months of 2020 than it has for any previous full year, FBI data show.
FBI data show sales spiked earlier this year as virus fears spread. And sharp increases in sales are seemingly occurring everywhere: The states with the lowest jump in sales in September, for example, were Alaska and North Dakota, each up about one-third compared with September 2019. States with the largest gains included Michigan, up 198% over September 2019, and New Jersey, up 180%, according to estimates by The Trace.
It’s difficult to know exactly who is buying guns at any certain time in the U.S. Gun shop owners, gun rights groups and gun lobbying groups said they were now selling more weapons than usual to shoppers, and to women in particular, and more weapons to first-time gun owners generally.
“The year 2020 has been just one long advertisement for why someone may want to have a firearm to defend themselves,” said Douglas Jefferson, vice president for the National African American Gun Association, which has seen the biggest increase in membership this year since the group was formed in 2015.
The influx of new guns in American homes is troubling at a time when many people are under incredible stress over jobs and spikes in coronavirus cases, said Kris Brown, who is president of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and who noted that suicide and domestic violence are on the rise.
On the issue of gun control, the divide has long been partisan. Concealed-carry laws, bans on high-capacity magazines, and allowing teachers to carry guns at school have split many Republicans from Democrats. A Pew Research Center survey in 2017 found that Republicans and independents who lean Republican were more than twice as likely as Democrats and independents who lean Democratic to own a gun.
But when it comes to gun ownership there’s something uniquely American that cuts across party affiliation and social boundaries — leaving liberals and conservatives jostling for ammunition because they want to brace for whatever comes next.
“This is a giant room of ‘you never know,’ ” said Bert Davis, looking around at people streaming inside a convention hall in Virginia to peruse weaponry earlier this month at the Nation’s Gun Show, one of the biggest events of its kind. Davis was surrounded by tables displaying AR-15 semi-automatic rifles, bunny-shaped brass knuckles, pistols etched with American flags and the face of President Donald Trump, booklets with titles like “Be Ready for Anything.” A human resources worker for the city of Richmond, Virginia, Davis had come to the show with his sister Toni Jackson, who had been having difficulty finding 9 mm ammunition at local gun shops; they were all sold out.
At the show, gleaming golden rounds were on sale by the thousands. “Everybody is arming themselves against their neighbor,” Jackson said, looking out at the diverse lot of fellow shoppers, some pushing strollers and wheelchairs, one in a Black Lives Matter mask, one in a in Keep America Great mask, and a line for background checks that snaked along the room. “This feeds the separatism of the country.”
Jackson bought her first gun about three years ago, a small .380-caliber handgun, because her property management job required her to handle large amounts of cash. Recently she put a down payment on a more powerful 9 mm pistol that she thinks will offer better protection.
Don Woodson was overseeing the Trojan Arms and Tactical table of dozens of 9 mm black, pink and Tiffany turquoise semi-automatic guns. He estimated 70% of his sales at the show were to new gun owners, many of whom told him that they are afraid of rioters. “People who never ever would have had guns before,” he said. “Now, they’re looking for security.”
Put Americans first, not China
American leaders from both parties stood down to China for 40 years. The Chinese Communist Party broke the rules on global trade, allowed Chinese firms to steal technology from American companies, and in turn destroyed entire sectors of our economy.
The corporate class and its chosen “experts,” for their part, turned a blind eye to China’s human rights abuses and crackdowns on speech. Washington politicians fell in line: Just open America’s markets to China, they said, and the CCP will change its ways and become a responsible global citizen as it grows richer and stronger.
They were wrong. Under President Trump, America is fighting back.
Earlier this year, as the Coronavirus spread from China throughout the world, President Trump acted quickly. He restricted travel from China and launched a White House Coronavirus Task Force in January. At the time, Democrat leaders and liberal pundits called President Trump’s strong response to the virus “xenophobic.”
The World Health Organization continued to stand by Beijing’s side. A little over 2 weeks before President Trump’s actions, the WHO irresponsibly parroted the CCP’s claim that the Coronavirus could not be transmitted between humans.
In reality, if China had acted on the virus just three weeks sooner than it did, up to 95% of global cases from COVID-19 could have been prevented, according to a study from the University of Southampton in England.
Instead, more than 43 million cases have infected the world so far—and counting.
The WHO nevertheless claimed that the CCP had set a “new standard for outbreak control.” Meanwhile, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros inexplicably condemned President Trump’s travel ban while praising the domestic travel restrictions put in place by China.
To make matters worse, U.S. taxpayers sent the WHO millions of dollars each year only to see its leaders protect Chinese officials instead of American citizens. President Trump withdrew funding, telling the WHO to investigate its alarming failures.
Democrats in Congress took the WHO’s side. Speaker Nancy Pelosi called efforts to withhold its funding pending an investigation “stupid.” Throughout the pandemic, the left has remained conspicuously silent about both the CCP’s culpability and the WHO’s failures. Democrats in Washington prefer to use the virus as a political weapon, calling for more lockdowns and other policies that hurt American workers.
Endless lockdowns may be an easy choice for affluent pundits and professionals who can work from home and afford to hire tutors for their kids, but they carry an enormous cost for most Americans. In addition to jobs lost and schools closed, there are increased risks of suicides, depression, opioid and drug abuse, domestic violence cases, and delays in important preventative medical care.
President Trump wants to see our country safely reopen by continuing measures to protect our most vulnerable citizens, including seniors. By prioritizing these groups, we can return more people safely to work and get more of our children back in school.
In other words, President Trump’s Coronavirus strategy reflects his governing agenda from day one: Don’t punish American citizens for the mistakes and failures of other countries and global organizations. Hold the real offenders accountable.
IS THIS JUST A COINCIDENCE SUBMITTED BY WILLIAM ROGERS
A drug called Remdesivir, manufactured by Gilead Sciences, is now being reported as the ultimate “CURE” for COVID-19. The patent for Remdesivir is currently held by China, through an agreement with Gilead’s drug patent sharing subsidiary, called UNITAID.
UNITAID just happens to have an office near Wuhan, China. Can you guess who some major financial investors in UNITAID might be? George Soros, Bill & Melinda Gates, and the WHO (World Health Organization). Both Gilead Sciences and UNITAID were financial backers of Hillary Clinton in the last election. Oh, did I mention that Dr. Fauci’s wife works for Gilead Sciences?
Dr. Fauci slapped down hydroxychloroquine, which is inexpensive, has been around for over 60 years with a proven safety record, even though its success rate was very favorable. And the news media backed him up all the way.
And another coincidence, Dr. Fauci authorized millions of American dollars to be sent to The Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, specifically for the study of Coronaviruses.

COMMENTS ON THE NEXT ELECTION FROM AN AD FOR A BOOK BY BUCK SEXTON (to get free copy, click the link below)
According to a Former CIA Officer and nationally syndicated radio host, something really suspicious is happening in America right now…
Though it might be difficult to imagine, he says:
“The rioting… the looting… the divisiveness – it’s all going to get even worse!”
And if you don’t know how to prepare, you could pay dearly.
According to Buck Sexton – who’s appeared countless times on The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show, The Glenn Beck Program – it ALL starts with the 2020 Election…
For example, did you know that Kamala Harris is the “most liberal” senator in the entire Senate, according to a bipartisan research organization?
She was one of the least bipartisan Senators…
She was the 3rd most absent Senator when it came time to voting…
And in nearly 4 years, she has only introduced ONE bill that has become law.
Can you imagine what she’d be like as Vice President?
Or – even worse – how bad it’d be with Kamala as President if Biden were to step down?
Which is why Buck Sexton’s new book: The Socialism Survival Guide: Eight Radical Predictions That Will Come True After the Next Election… and How to Prepare for Them – could be the most important book in America today.
And because the information and recommendations contained in this book are so critical and so timely – I’d like to send you a digital copy of his book – absolutely FREE, right now.
Don’t let the 2020 Election take you by surprise.
No credit card or subscription required.
You’ll immediately see a follow-up warning that 12-term former U.S. Congressman Ron Paul has about the election.
Plus, you’ll also begin receiving a free online magazine that Buck writes for, called American Consequences… which gives you a no B.S. look at the financial and political news, insights, and ideas you need to make sense of everything happening in America today.
Sincerely,
A.J. Wiederman
Contributor, American Consequences
P.S. I’ve worked with Buck Sexton for several years now. There is simply no one else in America quite like him. He’s been featured on Fox News, CNN, and The Blaze… wrote a book detailing the rise of “Occupy Wall Street”… and was even invited to the White House for a private meeting with President Donald J. Trump, who admitted that he’s a “big fan” of Buck.
In his new book, you’ll get insights you won’t find anywhere else in America today. By requesting a free digital copy of his book, you are under no future obligation whatsoever. Get your FREE digital copy of this new book right here, then don’t miss the urgent follow-up from Ron Paul.

Attending were 38 members and three guests, Tracy Hopkins, Jan Mills and Sue Hamm who were the presenters.
President Wayne opened the meeting with the U.S. pledge and the Texas pledge, followed by recognizing all the members, friends and relatives that are ill or recovering. Wayne offered a special prayer for the wife of Jim Hasslinger, friend and former HAWKS member, who passed away this past week. Before moving to the elections and business portion of the meeting, he introduced the three panel members all of which are members of the Winnsboro Community Foundation who addressed the group on Grants, applying for Grants and where to find these funds. A separate report will be issued on their presentation. It might be noted here that Roman Eble announced he had received a $1,000 pledge from Winnsboro Hardware to the Friends of the HAWKS scholarship drive.
After a question and answer session, and refreshment period, Wayne moved into the business meeting asking for a Treasurer’s Report. James reported we have $7,132 in the bank and that the complete financial picture has been made available for the members to check. James Dugger was asked to report on the Shooting Committee’s recommendation on how to disperse the funds created by the weekly shoots. In light of all the pressures heaped upon the police departments, lately, they felt it would be appreciated if we revived the “feed the cops” program with Tino V’s and Richies and apply the $1,144, split equally between the two restaurants. Danny O’Hara moved the proposal be accepted. Motion passed. Wayne , then recommended that both restaurants be invited to meet at City Hall and have pictures taken with the Chief of Police and submitted to the local paper. Dugger, in addition suggested we continue to have a donation bucket at the range and continue to donate for what ever need might arise.
The Secretary was asked for his report. Ron noted that no set time had been adopted for shooting or eating on Wednesday, that it was at your discretion. Ron brought up the gun show, sponsored by the American Legion, asked for help for Doug. The show is scheduled for October 10th and 11th and will be held in the Carroll Green Auditorium in Quitman (behind the Dairy Queen in Hogg Park).
Please keep in mind it is recommended that we stay non-political, even though I could find nothing in the IRS Data book or our by laws that spells out we must remain non-political, however, it might be in our best interest to remain neutral. George reminded us that anything to do with guns, ammo and control or abolishing the second amendment is fair game.
Ron reminded us there is NO penalty for paying your dues late and, finally, challenged the Hospitality Committee to begin work on a location and menu for our annual Christmas get-together, the first Thursday in December. It was commented that Richie’s may have remodeled us out of their place for Christmas, but that will be up to HC to decide.
Wayne started the door prize drawing with George Brown getting first pick.
Wayne asked Doug to explain the WGC range rules regarding the order of RSO selection and how the red light works when determining a hot or cold range. He, also, expounded on common courtesies when sharing the range.
Roman was asked to report on the FotH and said the raffle for the rifle was still going on with a goal of 50 tickets at $10 each. The money will go into the Ken Pescod Scholarship fund.
Jack Miranda was the second door prize winner.
Doug returned to report on VIPs with a request for additional help for the car show. Jimmy Chiles added that no new information was received on Hooves and Halos. One of the members mentioned that the event might have been canceled due to Covid-19.
Wayne started the vote for the three positions. The vote was taken by written ballot. The first vote was for RSO, candidates were Leonard Newman or James Dugger.
Johnny Wetzel was the third door prize winner.
The second vote was for Vice President between Rob Tubbs, Jack Miranda was asked to run but he, respectfully, declined, Roman Eble was, also, nominated from the floor and accepted the nomination.
The third vote was for President between Greg Bova and Johnny Wetzel, who accepted the nomination.
Paul Fletcher was the fourth door prize winner.
Ron asked if the members would like to buy more patches and decals for the car windows. The members preferred the original insignia over the newer hawk.
James Dugger was elected RSO, Roman Eble was elected Vice President and Johnny Wetzel was elected President.
Picture was taken for publication of elected officers and prize winners.

DING-DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD
As I am sure everyone knows by now, leftist Supreme Court judge Ruth Ginsberg died last week after a prolonged illness. Ms. Ginsberg was known as a brilliant constitutional scholar who ignored the constitution and substituted her own personal ideas in her judicial decisions whenever she disagreed with the content of the constitution. She was especially vocal in her opposition to gun ownership. President Trump will probably name her replacement very quickly, and most t likely the US Senate will approve the nomination. Bill Rogers has submitted a brief profile of each of the judges who are being considered by the president for her replacement.
AMY CONEY BARRETT
Barrett, 48, is widely considered to be the front-runner. She was previously considered as a finalist for Trump’s second nomination to the high court, which eventually went to Justice Brett Kavanaugh. A devout Catholic mother of seven, she is a favorite of religious conservatives and considered a strong opponent of abortion.
Barrett was nominated by Trump to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and confirmed by the Senate in October 2017 by a 55-43 vote. The 7th Circuit, based in Chicago, covers the states of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
In her nearly three years on the bench, Barrett’s judicial record includes the authorship of around 100 opinions and several telling dissents in which Barrett displayed her clear and consistent conservative bent.
Barrett served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. She worked briefly as a lawyer in private practice in Washington, D.C., before returning to the University of Notre Dame Law School, her alma mater, to become a professor in 2002.
During her Senate confirmation hearing for the appeals court in 2017, Democrats pressed Barrett on whether her strong religious views would impact her potential rulings on abortion and other hot-button social issues.
Barrett responded that she takes the Catholic faith seriously, but said that “I would stress that my personal church affiliation or my religious belief would not bear in the discharge of my duties as a judge.”
She is married to Jesse Barrett, a former federal prosecutor who is a partner at a law firm in South Bend, Indiana. The couple has seven children, included two adopted from Haiti and one child with special needs.
___
BARBARA LAGOA
Lagoa, 52, is a Cuban American judge from Florida who was nominated by Trump to serve on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019. Her name was on the White House’s list of potential high court contenders released earlier this month.
Raised in the heavily Latino Miami suburb of Hialeah, Lagoa is the daughter of Cuban exiles who fled the communist regime of Fidel Castro. She speaks fluent Spanish and has a solidly conservative judicial record. Lagoa’s potential nomination is being touted as a way for Trump to shore up flagging support in a crucial battleground state where recent polls have shown Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden with a narrow lead.
Lagoa also has the potential benefit of having been previously vetted by the Senate just 10 months ago, sailing to confirmation by a wide margin of 80-15 in a relatively rare bipartisan vote in November. The 11th Circuit covers Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
On Saturday, Trump said he had not yet met Lagoa but that “she’s Hispanic and highly respected.”
Lagoa is a graduate of Florida International University and went on the earn her law degree from Columbia University in New York in 1992. She then worked in private practice in Miami for about a decade.
In 2000, Lagoa gained notoriety as part of the legal team that represented relatives of Elián González, the young boy caught in a high-profile custody dispute between his father in Cuba and family members in Miami.
Lagoa is married to Paul Huck Jr., a Miami attorney. The couple have three children.
___
JOAN LARSEN
Larsen, 51, was a little-known University of Michigan legal scholar until 2015, when then- Gov. Rick Snyder, a Republican, tapped her to fill a vacant seat on the Michigan Supreme Court.
The following year, “Justice Joan” campaigned to fill the remaining term of her predecessor on the court by appealing to conservative voters, promoting an originalist interpretation of legal texts and pledging not to “legislate from the bench.” As a presidential candidate Trump included Larsen’s name on his first list of potential nominees to the nation’s highest court.
Trump carried Michigan that November and after becoming president quickly sought to elevate Larsen to the federal bench, tapping her in May 2017 to fill a vacant seat on the Cincinnati-based 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Michigan’s two Democratic U.S. senators initially held up her appointment since the White House hadn’t consulted them on the nomination, as is customary. But after meeting with the senators, Larsen was confirmed by the Senate by a 60-38 vote the following November.
Larsen grew up in Waterloo, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa before going to Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago. After graduating in 1993, Larsen landed a coveted clerkship with Justice Antonin Scalia.
Following the election for President George W. Bush, she joined the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice, where she authored a still-secret 2002 memo that addressed detainees’ rights to challenge their detention.
Returning to teach law at Michigan, Larsen championed an expansive view of the powers of the presidency. She wrote a 2006 article defending Bush’s use of signing statements to interpret laws passed by Congress. At her 2017 confirmation hearing for the federal bench, however, Larsen assured senators she would have no problem ruling against Trump if the law demanded it.
Larsen is married to Michigan law professor Adam Pritchard, an expert on corporate and securities law. They live in Scio Township near Ann Arbor and have two children.
___
ALLISON JONES RUSHING
Rushing, 38, was confirmed just 18 months ago to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond. If elevated to the Supreme Court, she would be the youngest justice confirmed since the early 1800s.
She is a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Her potential selection is being championed within the White House by chief of staff Mark Meadows, who also hails from the mountains of the Tarheel State.
Rushing graduated from Wake Forest University before attending Duke University, where she earned her law degree in 2007. She then clerked for future Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was then an appeals court judge, as well as at the Supreme Court for Justice Clarence Thomas.
As an appellate specialist while in private practice at the Williams & Connolly law firm in Washington, Rushing filed scores of briefs with the Supreme Court. But her comparatively short legal career included prior work with a conservative Christian legal group that is sure to stoke Democrats and their allies to fight her nomination.
While in law school in 2005, Rushing interned at Alliance Defending Freedom, a group known for its opposition to same-sex marriage and expanded rights for transgender people. That has led Democrats to cast Rushing as an “a young, ideological extremist.”
Rushing is married to Blake Rushing. The couple have a young son.
___
KATE COMERFORD TODD
Todd, 45, is the only lawyer on Trump’s potential shortlist for the Supreme Court who has never served as a judge.
A deputy White House counsel, her close connection to the Trump administration could give an opening to Democrats to attack her independence and relative lack of experience. However, her lack of a judicial record also leaves little paper trail for opponents to sort through for material to attack.
Todd graduated from Cornell University before attending Harvard Law School. She then clerked for Thomas at the Supreme Court. She worked in private practice before serving as the senior vice president and chief counsel for the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, which is the legal arm of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Todd is married to Gordon Dwyer Todd, a partner at Sidley law firm in Washington specializing in white-collar defense and government litigation. The couple live in Northern Virginia with their four children.

Rob Tubbs' wife Zerita has been moved to Health South in Tyler. I haven't heard how long she will be there but as you are aware rehab doesn't happen overnight. That family has been through IT. Rob is continuing to carry out his farm chores without his sidekick and Christie is doing what she can to keep them fed.
If there is anything we can do to help out this family we need to step up. Adversity makes us as individuals and as families stronger and closer.
Keep the Tubbs family in your prayers.

THOUGHTS ON THE PASSING OF GINNSBURG SUBMITTED BY BILL ROGERES
Dean Weingarten
Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RGB) had a turbulent and notorious career on the Supreme Court. She died after prolonged bouts with cancer and assorted associated ailments. She is reported to have died on Friday, the 19th of September 2020. She spent over 27 years of her life on the Supreme Court. She was influential in many hotly contested decisions that overturned long precedent or created new rights for special interest groups never mentioned in the Constitution. She was a fierce opponent of any sort of significant meaning in the Second Amendment of the Constitution.
It is widely believed she did not retire during the Obama regime because she thought Hillary Clinton was certain to win the 2016 elections. She was such a partisan advocate, she wished to have her replacement appointed by a woman. She lost that bet.
President Trump has kept his word about appointing judges who are originalists and textualists. He has appointed judges who believe the words of the Constitution mean things, and those meanings may not be changed, unless through the process of Constitutional amendments. Most judges on the court since the reign of Franklin Roosevelt have been philosophical progressives. They have promoted the idea of the Constitution as a “living document”, which means the Constitution can be changed by justices on the Supreme Court as they feel it should be changed.
That philosophy means the Constitution had no fixed meaning, but changes with the change of justices and their ideas, on the court. It is an attractive option for Supreme Court justices. It gives them immense power, privilege, and status. Promoting one's own power and privilege to the uproarious applause of one's peers and the media is the easiest thing to do in the world. It takes no courage to do this.
RGB famously said, advising Egyptians on the writing of a constitution in 2012: “You should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone one since the end of World War II. I would not look to the US constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived a long and privileged life, one very few people can attain. She reached the pinnacle of power and privilege, in large part, because she was born female in the United States. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a talented advocate. But advocates should not be justices on the Supreme Court, or any Court unless they are advocates for the rule of law, and justice which is blind.
Unlike Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Trump will need the courage to make his decisions. He will face unrelenting attacks by the media and other Progressive leftists. Ruth Bader Ginsburg faced unrelenting praise and honors.
President Trump needs the willpower and resolution to appoint another strong justice to the Supreme Court, one who will do their job to uphold the Constitution as written, rather than advocate for a particular group. He needs to appoint a justice who will have the fortitude and courage to stand up to the advocacy groups in the Media. President Trump has been successful in his court appointees so far. They have been one of the great successes in his first term, which has been hobbled, demeaned, and attacked with all the power and deceit available in the media and from Progressives in both parties.
President Trump has a historic chance to break out of the morally bankrupt, ever-expanding thrust for power by the Progressive elite. He has a chance to return to a Republic of, by, and for the people, limited in its power by the bonds of the Constitution.
WHAT HAPPENS IF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS DISPUTED SUBMITTED BY BILL ROGERS
WASHINGTON (AP) — Is it possible the election will be up in the air and we won't have a president on Inauguration Day: Jan. 20, 2021?
Even if the election is messy and contested in court, the country will have a president on Inauguration Day. The Constitution and federal law ensure it. Here's what happens after voters go to the polls on Nov. 3:
First, states have more than a month to count ballots, including the expected surge of mail-in ballots, and conduct recounts if necessary. But states' electoral votes have to be cast on Dec. 14.
Courts will be mindful of that in refereeing any disputes. During the 2000 election, the U.S. Supreme Court ultimately ended Florida's vote recount, saying time had run out before electors were set to meet.
When the electors meet, the candidate who gets at least 270 of the 538 electoral votes wins. But what happens if election issues still prevent a winner from being named? The Constitution has an answer.
The 12th Amendment says that in that case, the House of Representatives elects the president and the Senate elects the vice president. The new Congress that enters in January is the one tasked with carrying out the so-called “contingent election.” The president has only been selected this way once, in 1825. The winner was John Quincy Adams.
In a contingent election, House members have to choose among the three people with the most electoral votes. Each state delegation gets one vote, and 26 votes are required to win. In the Senate, the choice is between the top two electoral vote-getters and each senator gets a vote, with 51 votes required to win.
What if that fails and the House hasn't elected a president by Inauguration Day? Then the 20th Amendment takes over. It says the vice president-elect acts as president until a president is picked. And if there's no vice president selected by Inauguration Day?
Well, then the Presidential Succession Act applies.
It says that the speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate president or a Cabinet officer, in that order, would act as president until there's a president or vice president.
INTELEGENCE GATHERING AT PROTESTS SUBMITTED BY BILL ROGERS
Over the last few weeks, as protests and riots have continued, I decided to stop blindly accepting the media’s reporting and to get out and see what was actually going on at the rampant protests. Let me start by saying that I don’t advocate everyone doing this…I’m a trained professional with over 20 years of investigations experience. I do want to share the interesting findings and make a few recommendations to everyone, though.
The narrative being presented was that these protests were not centrally organized and that they were grass-roots protests just springing up in response to social issues. My time inside the protests verified that this just isn’t true; they are very organized and are being planned by someone.
I began by gathering a list of local protests and making a schedule, attending the ones closest to home, to assess my local level of risk, and then branching out to other areas, and eventually even attending a very large one in Lansing, at the state Capitol. According to the event organizers, these were all protests by different groups….that’s important, later. Sources for finding local protests include Google, Facebook, and Twitter. Remember though, as Sam Culper at Forward Observer teaches, we should always farm social media for data, and never plant any data. Guard your information online.
THE FIRST ONE I ATTENDED WAS ON THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN CAMPUS. THE PROTEST WAS RATHER LARGE, ABOUT 1,500 PEOPLE. WHAT I FOUND INTERESTING WAS THAT THE FIRST SPEAKER POINTED OUT THAT “ALLIES FROM REVCOM/ANTIFA” WERE PRESENT, JUST TO PROVIDE “LOGISTICAL SUPPORT” INCLUDING MEDICAL AND SECURITY TEAMS. THE LOCAL REVCOM LEADER GOT UP AND EXPLAINED HOW TO FIND THE MEDICS (LARGE RED OR GREEN CROSSES) AND EXPLAINED THAT SECURITY WAS “CIRCULATING AMONG THE CROWD” FOR SAFETY. THAT WAS AN OMINOUS STATEMENT, AS I’LL POINT OUT LATER.
I began moving through the crowd and quickly spotted several security team members, obviously watching the crowd for anyone who wasn’t clapping or cheering along. It’s important to note that these protests require 100% ideological agreement or they will approach you and become confrontational, so I made sure I was chanting along. I noticed almost immediately that despite the man who said he was the RevCom leader, a young man named Ethan, that I would later have many interactions with, was actually in charge. He is a security team leader within the ANTIFA organization.
The biggest observation from the first protest was that despite the claims that they aren’t organized, they are highly organized by a central organization. Ethan and his security/medical team have been at every protest I’ve attended in Michigan, including one at the Capitol an hour away. They use the ubiquitous BaoFeng Handi-talkie radios to communicate.
Ethan himself most frequently wears Interceptor Body Armor and a Guy Fawkes mask, while dressing in black and red. When he is not personally actually leading the march, he wears the full face Guy Fawkes mask to try and prevent being identified.
Next, I attended a smaller protest that was scheduled in Canton Township, Michigan, a small Detroit suburb. I arrived an hour early, and lo & behold, Ethan and his crew were already in place. The protest met in a local grocery store lot and Ethan’s team was patrolling the lot, checking cars for people who appeared to be watching the protest.
COUNTER-SURVEILLANCE IS A HUGE PIECE OF THE ANTIFA/REVCOM PROGRAM. THEY RECORDED LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS OF VEHICLES THEY DEEMED “SUSPICIOUS”. AT ONE POINT, WHEN ETHAN SAW A MAN (NOT ME) OUTSIDE THE PROTEST TAKING PHOTOS, HE TRIED TO GET THE POLICE TO MAKE THE MAN LEAVE. IMAGINE, PROTESTING AGAINST THE POLICE, YET ASKING THEM TO HELP YOU. THE POLICE TOLD ETHAN THAT ETHAN AND HIS GROUP HAD NO LEGAL STANDING TO ASK ANYONE TO LEAVE, SINCE THEY DIDN’T OWN THE PARKING LOT AND WERE TECHNICALLY TRESPASSING.
A few days later, I was attending a BLM protest in downtown Detroit. This one was different. The organizers, while they accepted the RevCom/ANTIFA medical assistance, refused the offer to assist with security and had their own provided by the local Masons club. Ethan was not to be stumped…despite their claims to refuse outside assistance to prevent “agitators”, I quickly found Ethan and his entire security team hidden among the crowd, still using radios, and conducting serious counter-surveillance, including snapping a few photos of me. Now, what they got were photos of a man wearing a ball cap, sunglasses, a face mask pulled up under my sunglasses, and a hoodie. I’m sure they were thrilled when they reviewed the photos and noticed that my middle finger was discreetly displayed in every photo they took. I quickly went around a corner and applied gray man tactics, switching my hoodie, ball cap, and face mask, and taking off the sunglasses. I tested it and they appeared to have no clue that I was the same person.
At all of these protests, I conducted map tracking using my BattleBoard Scout, a great tool. It’s essentially a notebook that also has a clear window that you can write on using dry-erase or wet-erase markers. I prefer wet-erase, so that the tracking isn’t accidentally taken off. I use it to document where incidents occur and where protest activity took place in order to have a more solid picture of the situation on the ground.
The next few protests were more of the same, with Ethan and his team following and intimidating anyone who didn’t appear to belong. They followed people to their vehicles and recorded license plate numbers. It’s important to note that they were very obvious about recording the numbers, in an attempt to intimidate anyone who might oppose their viewpoint.
AT THE CAPITOL PROTEST, THE GAME CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY. ETHAN AND HIS TEAM MET UP WITH OTHER REVCOM/ANTIFA AND BLM SECURITY TEAMS FROM AROUND THE STATE AND ALL WERE OPENLY CARRYING ARMS, INCLUDING LONG GUNS. MANY OF THE ANTIFA PEOPLE WHO SHOWED UP ALL IN BLACK WERE WEARING HELMETS AND SOFT ARMOR, SO THEY WERE READY FOR VIOLENCE. THEY ACTIVELY HARASSED AND INTIMIDATED ANYONE THEY DEEMED AS “MILITIA”. MY POINT IN MENTIONING THAT IS THAT IF YOU SHOW UP TO TRACK ONE OF THESE PROTESTS DRESSED IN YOUR “TACTI-COOL” GEAR, THEY’LL MAKE YOU AND DRIVE YOU OFF LONG BEFORE YOU GET THERE. BLEND IN, GO GRAY.
Another point about social media is to never broadcast live from inside a protest. They have people monitoring. Video podcaster and commentator Steven Crowder sent a team into CHAZ or CHOP for a live stream and they were quickly chased out.
Intelligence gathering is best done in secret and should remain secret. I WAS TARGETED. I fell victim to their counter-surveillance again because the Militia folks had heightened their awareness with several attempts to enter the Capitol grounds, and apparently one of them observed me take a photo. They immediately began following me, including off the Capitol grounds to try and get my license plate, maybe even confront me, but since I had done a thorough map study and recon (again using my trusty BattleBoard Scout as a guide), I was able to lead them on a longer chase than they wanted to go on and they gave up. I was able to successfully change profile and re-enter the crowd.
It’s important to note that they had no authority to drive people off the Capitol grounds, but the State Police allowed them too, and never intervened when the BLM/ANTIFA crowd forced someone out.
When returning to my vehicle after each of these protests, I was very careful to conduct a Surveillance Detection Route (or SDR). This outwardly looks like a random walking pattern, allowing you to check and make sure that you aren’t being followed and to effectively shake or identify any followers.
SO WHAT ARE THE LESSONS FOR PATRIOTS?
- The protests are organized by a central organization.
- They have trained and professional security teams.
- They actively conduct counter-surveillance.
- Park sufficiently far enough distance away to discourage anyone following, and walk in.
- They are completely willing to use arms and force.
- The presence of body armor indicates a willingness to use violence.
- Blending in is far better than direct confrontation.
- Have a fully stocked and ready first aid kit, such as a BearFAK.

MESSAGE FROM OUR CONGRESSMAN ABOUT DEPENDENCE ON CHINA
Friends,
I recently introduced the Reclaiming American Rare Earths (RARE) Act. Currently, our economy and national security infrastructure rely heavily on Chinese supply chains for high-tech manufacturing.
The bill creates the opportunity to reclaim American resources, eliminate reliance on the Chinese Communist Party, and bring this important supply chain home. You can read more about the legislation in the article below:
Texas Lawmakers Introduce Bill to Reduce Dependence on China for Rare Earths
By Daniel Friend
The Texan
The legislation would provide tax incentives for the U.S. mining of rare earth materials, used to produce goods like smartphones and defense systems.
Reps. Lance Gooden (R-TX-05) and Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX-15) introduced the Reclaiming American Rare Earths (RARE) Act last week in an effort to bolster the industry in the United States and reduce dependence on China for the materials.
Rare earth metals are used in the production of high-tech goods, including smartphones, electric vehicles, and modern defense systems.
China produces over 85 percent of the world’s rare earth materials, and most U.S. imports of the product come from China, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
The RARE Act would provide tax incentives through deductions on property used for the mining and on the purchase of materials extracted within the United States.
It would also create a $50 million yearly grant program through the Secretary of the Interior through the next four fiscal years.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced a similar bill in May, the Onshoring Rare Earths (ORE) Act, and has lent his support to the Gooden-Gonzalez bill, stating, “We must take an all of the above approach to ensuring the entire supply chain for rare earth elements and critical minerals is located in the United States, and I’m proud to lead this effort with Rep. Gooden."
Five other Texas House members have also cosponsored the RARE Act: Reps. Will Hurd (R-TX-23), Roger Williams (R-TX-25), Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28), Pete Olson (R-TX-22), and Randy Weber (R-TX-14).
The Lone Star State’s role in the rare earths industry is poised to grow if the U.S. is able to decrease its reliance on China.
Last year, Texas’ Blue Line Corp. and Australia’s Lynas Corp. announced plans to expand a rare earths processing facility in Hondo, west of San Antonio.
At the end of July, Lynas reportedly signed a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) to develop the separation facility.
The DOD also announced in July that they were utilizing the Defense Production Act to sign a $28.8 million contract with Urban Mining Group in Austin to “assist in developing a domestic source for Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) rare earth permanent magnets."
USA Rare Earth, the funding and development partner for a rare earths extraction project in West Texas’ Round Top, lauded the RARE Act.
"On this issue of national importance, it’s significant that Texas leads the way,” said CEO Pini Althaus in a press release. “Our Round Top deposit contains $22 billion of materials, including a significant amount of rare earths, lithium and tech metals. The Gooden-[Gonzalez] bill will facilitate projects like Round Top and other domestic projects in ensuring US independence from China, and strengthen our economy and national security."
"We shouldn’t have to rely on the Chinese Communist Party for our critical military and communications technology,” said Gooden. “Our future technological capacity will depend on our ability to cultivate an economic environment that is favorable to robust domestic production of these resources."
"Ending our dependence on China starts today,” said Gonzalez. “The RARE Act will allow the United States to develop a reliable domestic supply of critical minerals and rare earth elements and eliminate this pressure point that could have lasting impacts on our national security and most importantly, our way of life.”

MEETING MINUTES BY RON MIRANDA
Wayne opened the meeting, as members finished their Angelo’s pizza, by asking Rob to lead us in the pledges to the U.S. and Texas. Mike followed with a long list of prayers for shut-ins including 15 friends and members.
Wayne, then, introduced Kelly Cole, the Sheriff elect of Wood County who laid out his plans to improve service and reduce response time of the deputies in the field. Sheriff elect Cole is very much in favor of citizen’s right to legally carry a firearm and welcomed the HAWKS’ assistance in a riot situation, should it occur.
Leonard explained the flashing red light when arriving at the range and when it is turned off. He went on to cover basic safety rules that we should know and follow. He went on to chastise himself for touching James Dugger’s gun when guys were down range.
Wayne had the first drawing of the night, Roman was the first winner.
Treasurer’s report, no questions were asked of James.
Wayne asked the Sheriff elect to draw the second name, that of Greg Bova for the second winner.
George was asked for webmaster report, who asked for any content to be added to the website. James had sent old pictures of HAWKS’ events.
Ron was asked for Secretaries’ report and his list included, asking George to adjust prayer page. The Board voted to not fund the c/3 from dues but pledged to help in any way we could, raise funds for the c/3s use. The Board settled on recommending an 8 am shooting time and a 9 am breakfast time allowing one hour for casual shooting.
The Board was asked to consider dropping the $3 gift fee for shooting on Wednesday morning, as it was not bringing in any new shooters. The Board agreed with the request and it passed by 4 to 1 the idea of charging $3 at the shoot. The existing amount accrued would be spent on the qualifying shooters. In addition the Board approved a request to appropriate a percentage of the dues and buy prizes for a drawing to be held at the Christmas Party for the entire club. That motion was tabled until the September meeting.
At the September meeting the club will vote on a new President, Vice President and confirm a reappointment of the R.S.O. The board will appoint a replacement for the Sgt. at Arms and Information Officer. All positions will be effective immediately. The F.A.S.T. program has been tabled until January or February, 2021 due to the Covid-19 virus.
At a meeting on August 4th, it was suggested that the HAWKS would create a scholarship committee with the responsibility of vetting candidates, selecting winners and determining the amount to be awarded. The Friends of the HAWKS would be responsible for raising funds for those scholarships. This meeting was informal and attended by Johnny Wetzel, Roman Eble, James Morris, Greg Bova, Ed Hoying, Ron Miranda and Dennis Morey.
September will be the time to restructure or recreate new committees. I would encourage all members to join Texas Law Shield in Lieu of what transpired in St. Louis and Austin, in the past weeks. The lawyers associated with Texas Law Shield specialize in law involving a fire arm.
Ed Hoying announced that Greg Bova is a candidate for President, Rob Tubbs is running for Vice President, with Leonard Newman asking to be returned as R.S.O. In addition he emphasized any member in good standing can run for an office.
Wayne announced the Chamber had offered two tables for HAWKS’ use at the gun show scheduled for September 18th, 19th & 20th and Johnny confirmed two tables. The inmates are on lock down and will NOT be available to help with set up or tear down. In addition there is a car show scheduled for Labor Day weekend (Saturday, Sept 5th at the depot)
Ed Hoying recognized Wayne Scott and Paul Fletcher for their service to the club for the past two years.
Jimmy Doonan won the third door prize.
Jimmy Chiles was asked for a report on VIPs who referred to Doug Grantham and he offered the VIPs for Autumn Trails and the Cruise In and asked for more advanced notice than they had last year. Farmers Insurance dropped American Legion for sponsoring gun shows and raffles. Jimmy added that the Attorney General of New York state has filed a suit to dissolve the NRA, where by President Trump suggested the NRA move to Texas.
Leonard Newman drew the fourth winning number for a door prize.
Wayne reminded the group to vote in the September your dues must be paid by the end of August.
Ken Schwab drew the final winning door prize ticket.
Wayne reported on the Friends of the NRA banquet held this past Saturday night which raised $70,000 and Doug announced the Friends of NRA would have another banquet this Saturday night in Sulphur Springs.
Efton Edwards announced that Mr. James Cash, our unofficial patriarch, is doing well for 93 but is losing weight which is a concern to Mr. & Mrs. Edwards which are the care givers for him. He would appreciate a phone call just to say hi and we’re thinking of you.
James Dugger asked if we liked the pizza served and got a rousing cheer.
Jimmy Miller further endorsed Sheriff elect Kelly Cole saying he was an honest and hardworking law man.
Roman Eble gave his report on the Friends of the HAWKS echoing what was discussed at Dennis Morey’s house and said they had a meeting yesterday morning and realized the two entities had a communication gap, which is being remedied. The FotH will have their annual meeting in November to elect new officers and set the direction for their group. They will elect a new Chairman who will work hand in glove with the Scholarship Committee; He, then, introduced a new raffle on a .308 rifle with ammo, they will sell 50 tickets at $10 each ticket, drawing will be as soon as the tickets are sold. The Chamber will pay $500 for a security contingency at the gun show. Additional ideas to raise money were discussed and will take place in the coming year. Both groups said they would like to keep Dennis Morey involved as long as his health permits.
Wayne asked if there was anything further for the good of the club, with no response, the meeting was closed.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
There are only 15 days left to pay your dues and stay current with the HAWKS brotherhood. You must be current to vote on any business that may come before the HAWKS' membership
The dues remain at $36.00 and can be sent to: HAWKS,
P.O. Box 1032, Winnsboro, TX 75494, attn: James Morris, a check is preferred.
We are still planning a Christmas party for you and your wife to attend which will recover much of your dues cost. This along with the refreshments and prizes provided at the monthly meeting will help to recover the balance. Remember we are a 501 c/7 which, essentially, is a "good ole boy club" and dictates the dues money must be spent on ourselves.
Ron
_____________________________________________________________________
At our upcoming Board of Directors meeting on August 26th I
intend to move that we ask the membership to amend Article 3.08.
That Article prohibits a vote that would concern the club and the by
– laws governing it, by any means other than an in person vote.
It was brought to my attention that we have members who, physically
cannot get to a meeting to cast a vote, in person. They may be in a
hospital, bed ridden or living in another state but continue to keep
their dues current.
As an example, it would be impossible to expect, say Lee Moore to show
up for a vote, all the way from Tennessee as opposed to someone who
couldn’t make a meeting because they promised to help bake cookies.
It would, also, be impossible to expect Dennis Morey to leave his
home and oxygen supply to vote when another member is in a walking
boot because his grandson ran over his foot with his own golf cart.
The clause containing the prohibition about a proxy vote remains, No
Proxy Votes will be counted. Please consider how you will vote on
this issue at our next meeting in September.

The elections are coming, the elections are coming!!!
The Chairman of the Nominating Committee has asked me to send to all members the rules for governing the election of officers. Greg Bova has agreed to be the candidate for President replacing Wayne Scott and Rob Tubbs has agreed to run for Vice President replacing Paul Fletcher, finally Leonard Newman has agreed to run for a continuing full term as R.S.O. replacing Ron Smith who left at midterm. The Board of Directors will appoint two people to fill the unexpired terms of Sgt. at Arms and Information Officer.
Our by-laws state that anyone can be nominated from the floor at the September Meeting for any of the offices being sought by any member in good standing (dues current) and (here's the kicker) with the member being offered as a candidate's permission to be nominated and if elected will accept the post.
This eliminates that "deer in the headlights" expression when the member is blindsided by a nomination from the floor, unexpectedly. If you have someone in mind that you would like considered for nomination, please contact Ed Hoying, the chairman of the Nominating Committee and by all means ask the person if they would be willing to accept the nomination.
We, rarely, have a two person race for any position, but should the occasion occur these are the guidelines we should follow.
See y'all at the September meeting...by the by we still don't know what the Hospitality Committee will have in store to excite our taste buds.
And as an added wrinkle we will draw four names and have four blind boxes to choose from. (SHAKING THE BOXES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED), if your name is called you will choose box 1 thru 4... and dat's da name of dat tune...

Subject: Debunk fake news
I have known Mark and Jay McClelland a very long time.
I have traded with them and know them to be honest and forthright as any one.
I called today to ask Mark if he had any trouble with HAWKS as a group or had any problems with the gift certificates we had bought as prizes in the past.
He told me up front that they had no problem with us as customers.
Knowing Mark like I do, I know he would shoot straight and tell me if he had a problem.
That is all
thank you Wayne

I, also, have bought many guns and ammo from these two guys and when it comes to retail dealers they are head and shoulders above anyone in the business. I encourage each of you to consider Village Gun and Pawn when buying anything firearm related.

Once again I regret being in the position I am in since I have to be the bearer of sad news. Jim Hasslinger, former HAWKS member, a regular at our bi-monthly poker games and all around good friend has gone to meet his maker. Jim lost his battle with cancer today about 12:30pm. Ginny, his wife and a few close friends were by his side when Jim left this life and began his journey to the next. Jim had been in poor health for some time but refused to give up the fight. He never let us forget he was retired Navy. Ken Schwab said he thought he would be cremated and to his knowledge no funeral has been planned. The club has sent a condolence card to Jim's widow.
We will miss big Jim and hope to be reunited with him when we make that long journey.

CROSS BOLT-ACTION RIFLE NEW FROM SIG
UPDATE ON THE BORDER WALL
President Trump traveled yesterday to Yuma, Arizona, where he met with Border Patrol officers and gave Americans an update on the border wall with Mexico. “This administration has basically funded us for 733 miles” of wall, Lieutenant General Todd Semonite of the Army Corps of Engineers said. “Forty-nine different projects are all going in the ground” across four states.
President Trump: “In 2 weeks, we will have hit 300 miles of wall.” The new wall system is one piece of President Trump’s larger agenda to protect America’s security and sovereignty. Last year, he negotiated historic agreements with Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras to help stop the flood of illegal immigration across our border. Mexico even deployed thousands of troops to help. Border apprehensions have fallen by more than 70 percent since last May as a result.
American law enforcement officers are stopping crime, drugs, and gangs in their tracks, as well. So far this fiscal year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized over 100,000 pounds of cocaine, over 83,000 pounds of meth, and over 2,700 pounds of fentanyl. Border Patrol apprehended 976 alien gang members last year, including 464 from the vile MS-13 gang. (MS-13’s motto is “Kill, Rape, Control.”)
Border wall leads to huge reductions in human trafficking “You’re setting records at the border,” President Trump told Border Patrol officers yesterday. “You’ve been unbelievable.” Border protection is more important than ever as the Coronavirus pandemic spreads globally. Strong border security is crucial to helping slow the spread of the disease.
“A lot of the procedures that we are putting in place today are having a real impact on applying a consequence to those that are entering the country illegally,” Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said. “We are returning 90 percent of those individuals within 120 minutes, to date. That’s a big accomplishment.”
How A Study Accidentally Proves Gun Control Isn’t Needed
“If you ban guns, there won’t be guns for anyone to buy and criminals won’t be able to get them.”
That’s the refrain of the yellow-bellied gun-grabber, of course. Most of us have heard some variation on this at some point in time and most of us just roll our eyes. Some will counter, though.
“Yeah, that’s how we got rid of drugs,” they’ll fire back, and in doing so make an excellent point. After all, illegal drugs are still plentiful and based on the fact that we even have an opioid epidemic proves that they’re still an issue, right?
However a recently published story might actually quantify it a bit better and, probably by accident, prove that gun control just won’t work.
A new study published in the American Journal of Medicine conducted by a physician at MetroHealth Medical Center is calculating the future risk of death from firearms and drug overdoses in the U.S.
According to Dr. Ashwini Sehgal, who is also a Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, one out of every 100 American children will die from firearms and one out of every 70 will die from drug overdoses if current trends continue.
While the researchers go on to try and make an anti-gun case, I think they fail. After all, let’s look at these numbers for a moment.
One out of every 100 children in the U.S. means one percent of all kids die due to a firearm in some way, shape, or form. One in 70 works out to something like 1.43 percent.
In other words, children are more likely to die from a drug overdose than from a firearm. This is despite the numerous laws on the books banning many drugs and tightly controlling virtually everything else with a handful of exceptions. Meanwhile, guns are supposedly all but completely uncontrolled in this country.
That’s not true, of course, but let me have a little fun with this one.
Now, let’s look at the real problem with those killed in both of these statistics. Almost all of these dead children are dead due to illegal activity. With drug overdoses, the very act is typically criminal. While some overdose on lawfully-prescribed medication, most use more illicit drugs.
With firearms, though, it’s a bit more complicated. A small handful is the result of an accident, of course, but most are the result of things like gang crossfire or are the victim of a crime in some other way. Some of these are actual gang members themselves–even if they’re not legal adults, gangs recruit early–and many of them are armed themselves.
Armed criminals, however, tend to arm themselves through illegal means. They buy guns on the black market or get a straw buyer to obtain their firearms.
In other words, the vast majority of all of these deaths are the result of criminal acts. Yet despite guns being arguably less controlled than drugs, they result in fewer deaths. Funny how that shakes out, now doesn’t it? It’s almost like gun control isn’t the problem in the first place.

Absent; Paul Fletcher VP., Leonard Newman, RSO
Support Members; George Brown, Webmstr., Mike Briggs, Chaplain, Roman Eble, Friends of HAWKS
Present
22 Members and 2 guests, Jimmy Doonan and Brenda Morey
Wayne opened the meeting at the new time of 5:30 pm., instead of six , then called on Rob to lead the members in the pledges to the U.S. and Texas’ flags. Mike Briggs followed with a call for prayers for members and friends who are ill or healing. Members Dave Koch, Dennis Morey, Ken Goodson, friends Terry Oertwig’s wife, Cherry, and Jan Gold were included in prayers, followed by a reading and the Invocation.
Wayne asked the nominating committee be reinforced as due to health reasons he would not seek re-election as President of HAWKS.
The next speaker was James Morris with the financial report and he reported two reports were issued one on June 30 and July 1 with the second one being current and accurate. He, then asked for any questions, being none, he introduced our speaker, member and Wood County Sheriff, Tom Castloo. Tom discussed a situation where a resident of Holly Lake Ranch had a difference of opinion with him and has been using social media to air his grievance with the Sheriff. The Sheriff made it clear that the state constitution was being followed in this case and that is what guided his office. He went on to discuss other items he was addressing while in office.
Wayne proceeded with the first drawing for the night’s winner was Robb Tubbs.
He then, continued with safety instructions on how to clear malfunctions, safely. The second drawing picked Ron Miranda. Discussion continued regarding the call of “CEASE FIRE” if a malfunction occurs, which was agreed on and should become a policy when we are at the range in mass.
Ron was next with the Secretary’s report. He announced that dues would be collected next month and a check would be preferred over cash, for James to keep a better accounting of it.
F.A.S.T. is gaining in interest and popularity and the HAWKS should consider one for October or November. Presenters and coaches will be needed. Continuing it is difficult to gauge whether the “door prizes and pizza” is working due to the pandemic that is keeping many of us in our homes. Membership remains at 61 members. Like Wayne’s announcement to step down, Ron, also, announced he would NOT seek another term as Secretary.
Wendall was asked for a Friends of HAWKS report and stated that other than presenting the scholarship to the young man from Como Pickton High School, nothing was on the planning table. When asked if they had a plan to fund future scholarships, he replied that they were depending on donations from the HAWKS as in the past.
Wayne won the next drawing.
The fourth winner was James Dugger.
Jack Miranda was the next winner.
Jeff Paddock won the next drawing.
Paul Lovier was the next winning.
Jimmy Miller was the next winner.
Ken Watts was the next winner.
Greg Bova was the next winner.
Ken Schwab was the next winner.
Wayne announced that the VIPs may be needed for parades and Autumn Trails.
James Dugger announced that the next meeting we would have pizza and the meeting would be here unless otherwise notified.
Meeting was adjourned

HIDDEN BACK DOOR EMBEDDED IN CHINESE TAX SOFTWARE Submitted by William Rogers
William Turton
June 25, 2020, 1:00 PM
When a U.K.-based technology vendor started doing business in China, it hired a cybersecurity firm to proactively hunt for any digital threats that could arise as part of doing business in the country. The firm discovered a problem, one with such major implications that it alerted the FBI.
A state-owned bank in China had required the tech company to download software called Intelligent Tax to facilitate the filing of local taxes. The tax software worked as advertised, but it also installed a hidden back door that could give hackers remote command and control of the company’s network, according to a report published Thursday by the SpiderLabs team at Chicago-based Trustwave Holdings Inc.
“Basically, it was a wide-open door into the network with system-level privileges and command and control server completely separate from the tax software’s network infrastructure,” Brian Hussey, vice president of cyber threat detection and response at Trustwave, wrote in a blog post, also published Thursday. The malware, which Trustwave dubbed GoldenSpy, isn’t downloaded and installed until two hours after the tax software installation is completed, he said.
Trustwave researchers determined that the malware connects to a server hosted in China. It isn’t known how many other companies downloaded the malicious software, nor is the purpose of the malware clear or who is behind it, according to the report. Trustwave said it disrupted the intrusion at the tech company in the early stages. “However, it is clear the operators would have had the ability to conduct reconnaissance, spread laterally and exfiltrate data,” according to the report, adding that GoldenSpy had the characteristics of an Advanced Persistent Threat campaign. Such efforts are often associated with nation-state hacking groups.
Besides its client, Trustwave said it was aware of a “highly similar incident” that occurred at a major financial institution, which it didn’t name. “This could be leveraged against countless companies operating and paying taxes in China or may be targeted at only a select few organizations with access to vital information,” Trustwave wrote in its report. “We believe all corporations with Chinese operations should investigate for presence of GoldenSpy and remediate if necessary.”
Aisino Corporation, the developer of the Intelligent Tax software, didn’t respond to a request for comment, and Trustwave said it didn’t hear back from the company after alerting it to the malware discovery. Hussey said he briefed the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the findings on Wednesday.
Trustwave researchers believe the threat became active in April 2020, but they also discovered other variations of GoldenSpy going back to December 2016. It wasn’t clear what the hackers were after once it had successfully gained access to the tech company’s network, as they were discovered before they could exfiltrate data, Hussey said in an interview. Because the malware is included as part of software recommended by a bank, a target may be lulled into a false sense of security, Hussey said.
The malware was digitally signed by another Chinese company, Nanjing Chenkuo Network Technology, which helped it bypass the U.K. tech company’s anti-virus and security systems, according to Trustwave. When Trustwave reached out to Nanjing about the malware, its emailed bounced back, Hussey said. The malware is built to persist inside of a company’s network -- when one part of the malware is shut down, another part will re-install the malicious program, according to the report.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Due to the random violence occurring all over the nation and BLM threats along with Antifa to go rural I think anybody willing and capable of defending themselves and their loved one with a firearm should listen to anything TLS attorneys have to say. I’ve been a member for a long time and have my son as a member since he lives in south Texas where the violence is daily. For me, peace of mind is the price of my monthly dues and these days it’s feeling cheaper and cheaper.

Many of us are members of Texas Law Shield or U.S. Law Shield, therefore, we think it would behoove us to take advantage of the past off from this firm and have an attorney address our group. Wayne is attempting to set this up through Rob Mounts or Steve Johnson.
Two recent events have taken place which without good legal representation could spell financial disaster for the families involved. The one is involving attempted vehicular homicide, the other attempted assault with a deadly weapon. When asked what it would cost to have good representation to defend one against a charge involving a firearm, former Wood County DA Jim Wheeler answered by saying "be prepared to sell the ranch".
If you are not a member of TLS or any other Legal Representation of Firearm Law, TLS will, certainly, have a representative along.
If you have any thoughts along this line please answer this email or contact any of the HAWKS' BoD.
Thank You and stay safe and vigil

The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER
This one is a little different ...
Two Different Versions ....
Two Different Morals
OLD VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving..
CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper
next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast.
How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green'
Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the Black Lives Matter group singing, We shall overcome.
Then Reverend Al Sharpton has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper while he damns the ants. He later appears on MSNBC to complain that rich people do not care.
Former President Obama condemns the ant and blames Donald Trump, President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.
Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer exclaim in an interview on The View that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having; nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and given to the grasshopper.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken
over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.
The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be careful how you vote in 2020.
I've sent this to you because I believe that you are an ant not a grasshopper!
Make sure that you pass this on to other ants.

Dr. Ron Paul’s Urgent Message For Every American 6.08.2020 By Adam Wiederman
Dr. Ron Paul, the former U.S. Presidential candidate and 22-year Congressional veteran, is back in the spotlight. He’s stepping forward with a new message every American – especially those who are retired or nearing retirement – needs to see. “After so many years in Washington, I thought I was immune to being shocked by what our government does,” Dr. Paul says.
“But the actions that our elected officials… the Fed… even the medical community have taken in the past few weeks have gone beyond anything I could have imagined. And if you’re not careful, YOU could pay the price.” Few people in America today have Dr. Paul’s knowledge of the inner workings of the government…He spent more than two decades in Congress. He served on the House Banking Committee and the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
He sponsored more than 600 legislative bills. He met with every President of the past 40 years and every Fed Chairman, and spent many hours in top secret, closed-door meetings. Which is why it’s alarming he believes something troubling is lurking right around the corner. Dr. Paul discusses these and other issues in his new book. I plan to buy the book, and I will report on it as soon as I finish it.

George, could you put this information out to our HAWKS membership. Jim Doonan went to visit Dennis Morey yesterday and I went this morning. Dennis is in the Hospice program at home to help out Dennis and Brenda. Dennis was glad to have the visit and of course Dennis dominated the conversation with funny stories of his past. I didn't intend to stay too long, because he needs the rest and he had already been spending time with the Hospice Staff. I spoke with Brenda for a while and she ask if any HAWKS want to visit Dennis to send a text to Brenda at (903) 243 - 2500 and she can advise when it would be a good time to come. Brenda would also like to have no more than one visitor per day. It is unknown how long Dennis will be with us, but he and Brenda are prepared. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated for Dennis and Brenda

The Enemy Amongst Us!! Submitted by William Rogers Origionally published in the New York Post: By the late Charles Krauthammer,
I do not understand how living in a country with its democracy established over 200 years ago, and now, for the first time in history, suddenly we have one of our former presidents set up a group called “Organizing for Action” (OFA).
OFA is 30,000+ strong and working to disrupt everything that our current president’s administration is trying to do. This organization goes against our Democracy, and it is an operation that will destroy our way of governing. It goes against our Constitution, our laws, and the processes established over 200 years ago. If it is allowed to proceed then we will be living in chaos very much like third world countries are run. What good is it to have an established government if it is not going to be respected and allowed to follow our laws?
If you had an army some 30,000 strong and a court system stacked over the decades with judges who would allow you to break the laws, how much damage could you do to a country? We are about to find out in America!
Our ex-president said he was going to stay involved through community organizing and speak out on the issues and that appears to be one post-administration promise he intends to keep. He has moved many of his administration’s top dogs over to Organizing for Action.
OFA is behind the strategic and tactical implementation of the resistance to the Trump Administration that we are seeing across America, and politically active courts are providing the leverage for this revolution.
OFA is dedicated to organizing communities for “progressive” change... Its issues are gun control, socialist healthcare, abortion, sexual equality, climate change, and of course, immigration reform.
OFA members were propped up by the ex-president’s message from the shadows: “Organizing is the building block of everything great we have accomplished. Organizers around the country are fighting for change in their communities and OFA is one of the groups on the front lines. Commit to this work in 2017 and beyond.” OFA’s website says it obtained its “digital” assets from the ex-president’s re-election effort and that he inspired the movement. In short, it is the shadow government organization aimed at resisting and tearing down the Constitutional Republic we know as AMERICA.
Paul Sperry, writing for the New York Post, says, “The OFA will fight President Donald Trump at every turn of his presidency and the ex-president will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.” Sperry writes that, “The ex-president is setting up a shadow government to sabotage the Trump administration through a network of non-profits led by OFA, which is growing its war chest (more than $40 million) and has some 250 offices nationwide.

The Board has been working with the Hospitality Committee to increase attendance and recruit new members by offering incentives to attend. One is furnishing a light dinner before the business of the club is presented. In addition, a member has donated guns and ammunition to be given away at each meeting through a drawing. Wayne recognized the Hospitality Committee for their hard work by setting this in motion. The first winner is Rusdon Mills who was given the opportunity to select first.

MESSAGE FROM THE CDC
22,000 Americans died from the flu this year and 50 from the coronavirus and the country is in a total panic because of the coronavirus? GOODEN'S CORONAVIRUS NO VOTE
Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) - "I promised to thoughtfully represent my constituents and voted NO after being given only a few minutes to read a bill at midnight. The Senate had already left town and there was no necessary rush to pass this bill without debate or amendment opportunities at 1am on a Saturday. I continue to do all I can to work with the President and my colleagues as we tackle this crisis. Is it any wonder our country seems underprepared when our legislative body operates so dysfunctionally? I don’t wish to disparage any House members as they hail this bill as a positive step forward. There are great things in this bill that I look forward to learning about as I read it today, but I’m not here to rubber stamp Nancy Pelosi or anyone else’s work without proper vetting."

PREDICTION FOR AMERICA SUBMITTED BY CHARLES MCAFEE
Almost exactly sixty years ago since Russia’s Khrushchev delivered his
message to the UN; … prediction for America.
TV coverage of him banging his shoe on the podium. At that time, the word ‘communism’ was feared throughout our nation. Now here is some food for thought if it does not make us choke! Do you remember September 29, 1959? THIS WAS HIS ENTIRE QUOTE:
"Your children's children will live under communism, You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism.
We will not have to fight you; We will so weaken your economy, until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands." "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
Remember, socialism leads to Communism So, how do you create a Socialistic State?
There are 8 levels of control; read the following recipe.
1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people.
2) Poverty - Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them.
3) Debt - Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect (food, housing, income) of their lives because that will make them fully dependent on the government.
6) Education - Take control of what people read and listen to and take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools because the people need to believe in ONLY the government knowing what is best for the people.
8) Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. Eliminate the middle class. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the wealthy with the support of the poor
Does this sound like the agenda of one of our political parties????

PRIZE DRAWING AT HAWKS MEETINGS
In an effort to provide incentives to increase meeting attendance and promote closeness, we are prepared to give away donated and purchased prizes through drawings at Thursday meetings, mid-year event, picnics as well as December banquet. So we need some guidelines, and after some early suggestions have decided to go with the following. Members enter their (printed legible) names into a hopper for choice at 2-6 ammo items, scopes, cameras, etc. at each meeting. You must be present to get your name in the hopper and win. We will draw 4 names each night. The first name drawn will have first choice of the prizes, and so on. Drawn names will go back into the hopper for later meetings. As time goes on names will begin to accumulate depending on the number of times you are present for a better chance to win. Winner must be present to win. If you win you may donate your prize back to the pool of prizes, sell, trade or just be happy with your win. This, of course is a trial run and may continue as long as the prizes hold out. A separate name will go into a separate hopper for Wednesday breakfast/shoot, and Thursday meeting for a chance for a .50 caliber in-line black powder with scope at a summer picnic. (see Al Anderson) Thanks to the donor and to the hospitality committee for this effort. Suggestions are welcome.
The White House • March 16, 2020
15 days to slow the spread
This afternoon, President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force issued new guidelines to help protect Americans during the global Coronavirus outbreak.
🎬 President Trump: Taking action now will keep America ahead of the curve
The new recommendations are simple to follow but will have a resounding impact on public health. While the President leads a nationwide response, bringing together government resources and private-sector ingenuity, every American can help slow the virus’ spread and keep our most high-risk populations safe:
- Listen to and follow the directions of your state and local authorities.
- If you feel sick, stay home. Do not go to work. Contact your medical provider.
- If your children are sick, keep them at home. Contact your medical provider.
- If someone in your household has tested positive for the Coronavirus, keep the entire household at home.
- If you are an older American, stay home and away from other people.
- If you are a person with a serious underlying health condition—such as a significant heart or lung disease—stay home and away from other people.
Today’s guidelines build on the CDC’s recommendations to help prevent spread of the virus. Americans should continue practicing strict personal hygiene, including washing hands regularly for at least 20 seconds at a time and wiping down surfaces in the home regularly. Even if you are young and otherwise healthy, you are at risk—and your activities can increase the risk of contracting the Coronavirus for others. Everyone can do their part. There’s no better way to protect your family and your community than by arming yourself with accurate, up-to-date information.
President Trump declared a National Emergency in response to the Coronavirus on Friday, freeing up more than $42 billion in resources for states and localities. The emergency declaration will give healthcare providers on the front lines of this pandemic the flexibility they need to respond. President Trump continues to cut through every piece of unnecessary Washington red tape that may hinder response efforts, and he is continuing to make every Federal resource available to those who need it.
“I know I speak on behalf of the President and our entire team when I say how grateful we are for governors all across the country and the seamless partnership that we have forged with them and with state health officials,” Vice President Mike Pence said yesterday. “We also want to express great appreciation to the American people. Not surprisingly, it is inspiring to see the way tens of millions of Americans are responding with compassion [and] with common sense.”
Trump Signs Coronavirus Aid Package with Paid Sick Leave, & Free Testing
“President Trump on Wednesday signed into law a multibillion-dollar emergency aid package aimed at helping Americans impacted by the coronavirus,” Morgan Chalfant reports in The Hill.
The bipartisan measure, resulting from negotiations last week between the Trump Administration and Congress, “includes provisions offering paid leave benefits for Americans, bolstered unemployment benefits and free diagnostic testing for the virus.”
SIG SAUER RESOLVES CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT
Although plaintiffs have not proven their claims, SIG SAUER has reached an agreement to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that P320 pistols manufactured prior to August 8, 2017, have the ability to fire when the pistol’s slide and barrel are in an unlocked condition. The plaintiffs in this lawsuit claim that the inclusion of a mechanical disconnector in the design of the P320 pistol after August 8, 2017, a feature which is also included in the free Voluntary Upgrade Program (VUP) provided to all owners of P320 pistols manufactured prior to August 8, 2017, prevents the P320 pistol from firing in this condition.
SIG SAUER denies plaintiffs’ claims. By entering into this agreement, SIG SAUER is not admitting that any of plaintiffs’ allegations have merit, and plaintiffs have not proven their claims. In fact, it is SIG SAUER’s position that the design of the P320 pistol – both pre-upgrade and post-upgrade – prevents the P320 pistol from firing in an unlocked condition. SIG SAUER has conducted extensive testing of both the pre-upgrade and post-upgrade P320 pistols to confirm its position that the pistol will not fire with the slide and barrel in an unlocked condition.
In late 2017, SIG SAUER implemented an upgraded design of the P320 pistol to enhance the safety and performance of its P320 model pistol. All P320 owners who purchased a pistol prior to the design change are able to have their P320 pistols upgraded through the P320 Voluntary Upgrade Program (VUP). The upgraded design and implementation of the VUP was designed to further enhance the drop safety of the P320 model pistol. Although the P320 pistol met and exceeded all U.S. safety standards, it was discovered during additional testing beyond those standards that in some cases, under very specific conditions, the P320 pistol could discharge if dropped at a specific angle. Additionally, as part of this design upgrade, a mechanical disconnector was added to the P320 pistol to enhance trigger feel and consistency, as well as to prevent a “dead trigger” condition when the trigger has been pulled with the slide retracted. Although this disconnector serves as a redundant safety against the pistol firing in an unlocked condition, it is not its primary function and is not necessary to prevent such occurrences.
The SIG SAUER P320 pistol continues to meet and exceed all industry safety standards, and it is safe to carry and use in both the pre- and post-upgrade versions, when handled in accordance with the operator’s manual. However, to avoid the uncertainty and high costs of further litigation, SIG SAUER has reached an agreement to resolve this case. The forms attached below describe the rights which current and past P320 pistol owners may have under the terms of this agreement. If this agreement is finally approved by the court, these individuals may be entitled to certain benefits, including continued availability of the P320 VUP free of charge, a lifetime warranty against specific kinds of damage to the firearms, and a potential refund of amounts previously charged to repair firearms or replacement of unrepairable pistols. Please review these documents carefully to determine whether you may be eligible to submit a claim for such benefits.
NOTE: IF YOU CURRENTLY OWN A P320 PISTOL THAT WAS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO AUGUST 8, 2017, AND WHICH HAS NOT GONE THROUGH THE VOLUNTARY UPGRADE PROGRAM, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUBMIT A CLAIM FORM TO HAVE AN UPGRADE PERFORMED. SIG SAUER ENCOURAGES YOU TO VISIT THE VOLUNTARY UPGRADE PAGE TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOUR FIREARM IS ELIGIBLE FOR UPGRADE, AND TO INITIATE THE UPGRADE PROCESS.
Completed claim forms can be submitted to:

He explored the use of reducing the donation to $1 and using those monies for the purchase of targets, waving the fee’s altogether, having those who preferred just giving a direct donation to the FOTH. Discussion ensued on the subject. Ron moved that this subject be tabled until next meeting, motion passed.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Wayne, who again asked, no begged for someone to step up and take this position. He reported on our bank balance and expenditures.
The Website report, George invited anyone who wishes to submit a story, article, monograph or pictures do so to him to be posted on the Newsletter page, as the Minutes of this and any following meetings will be on a separate page. (No politics, please)

Ron said the pin would cost each member $3 per pin, then followed by saying Morey had contacted him and said he had it handled. We are, currently, working on the signup sheet by hand as my two computers are NOT compatible with each other.
He then read two thank you notes, one from Angela Albers, our current DA, for our involvement in the past Candidate Forum, the other from Jay McClendon for our members watching their store and homes while they attended Jay’s wife’s funeral. NEW LOCATION FOR BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES
There is a new tab at the top of the web page entitled Minutes for business meeting. From now on the business meeting minutes will be located under that tab. Since in the past the minutes have been placed as the first item in the newsletter, and many of you may be accustom to finding them there; I will continue to place them there for a brief time. So for a few months, they will be located in both places.
CONCERNING SUBMISSIONS TO THE NEWSLETTER
I get lots of first class submissions to the newsletter that are extremely funny, but I cannot use them because of their political nature. Because the HAWKS is a tax free 501(c) 7 organization, we cannot support one political party over another. Political activity on the part of organizations such as ours is prohibited by the federal government. If we engage in political activity, we could lose our tax free status. I do appreciate all the good political cartoons I receive, and I usually send them out to members as an individual, but I am not allowed to place them in the newsletter. So please, don’t stop sending me the good stuff, it will be passed on to others, but just not in the pages of the newsletter.

Neil Gorsuch has only been on the Supreme Court for a short while. Recently he ignited the fire of liberty and broke 40 years of precedent when he refused to join the SCOTUS “cert pool.” The cert pool was established in 1973 during the early days of the Burger Court, in order to efficiently review the near 8,000 petitions received each term. In practice, the petitions are apportioned among the Court’s law clerks, who then circulate a memo to the justices recommending a grant or denial. The obvious problem here is that this gives the power in these 8000 cases to the law clerks instead of the Justices. It also, in theory, allows 3rd parties to unfairly influence a case through the clerks.
That is NOT how the Supreme Court was designed to operate. Neil Gorsuch just managed to set his foot down in the Supreme Court and say it is NOT okay to pass off judgments to the discretion of legal clerks. This is the kind of story everyone should be hearing or reading in the media, but obviously is not.
Today the United States Supreme Court issued a direct and final blow to the Islamic Indoctrination of the young in this nation.
The full panel of the United States Supreme Court which consists of 9 judges met to decide the fate of Islamic indoctrination in our American public schools. In a typical 5 X 4 decision, common sense won out, and we have sanity restored to our schools once again.
The United States Supreme Court was able to hand out this decision banning Sharia Law and Islam from being taught in classrooms because of the tie-breaking vote of the newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Gorsuch went on to write about the decision:
“The government certainly has no business being involved in religion, but this isn’t a government issue or a religious issue. This is about the judicial branch interpreting the laws as they apply to the teaching of religion. We shouldn't be teaching any religions in the public schools of this country Amen, Justice Gorsuch, Amen!
Liberals are all about teaching Islam and Sharia Law but they have issues with “Under God” in the pledge of allegiance and “In God We Trust” on our currency.
This should have been a unanimous decision, not 5 to 4, but it seems like the 4 liberal judges on the Supreme Court don’t care about the Constitution, nor our values.
Perhaps this is the start of restoring America to its founding glory.
Thank GOD for our new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch--- a great selection by President Trump.

Absent; Ron Miranda Secy., Paul Fletcher V.P. George Brown, Webmstr.
Support Members; Billy Ray Jones acting Chaplain, Wendall Hildebrandt, Friends of HAWKS, Jimmy Chiles, V.I.P.s
Attendance was 25 members and 2 guests
Rob Tubbs opened the meeting with both pledges, followed by Billy Ray Jones giving the invocation and Prayer requests for Ron Miranda, Ken Pescod, Dennis Morey, Christi and Zerita Tubbs, the mother of Cleatus Brisco, and Victoria Fletcher in addition asked for prayers and support for our President who is constantly battling evil.
Wayne introduced member Leonard Newman who spoke on his gun collection and his carry preferences including his method of carry. Leonard is a 40 year veteran of law enforcement and education in law enforcement.
Wayne, then announced no Treasurer report due to the abrupt resignation of Ron Smth, but that we had $5,436+ in the bank, less $650 to Richie’s for our annual Christmas dinner. We still have a deposit or two for our Wednesday shoot to be added to the total. He then explained how the $3 is used for prizes at the end of the shooting year, or can be donated to the scholarship fund at the shooter’s preference.
Wayne asked for suggestions for a start time for breakfast so we could all eat together. James Morris added that consideration should be given to Richie’s by eating as a group instead of dribbling in all morning long. Chuck injected that we could go to breakfast early then go to the range and be ready to shoot at 8 am. This would mean eating from 6 am on. James added Ron Miranda suggested eating from 7:30am. And leave for the range when finished. Additional comments were aired.
A motion was made by Chuck to assemble at the range at 7:30 am., however, Wendal amended the motion to include an either or and asked for a vote. Option one was eat early then be at the range by 8am. Option two was eating leisurely at that point pandemonium broke out.
Leonard called for a definitive vote on two options, that being eat at 7:30am. followed by shooting, the second being go to the range by 8am. followed by breakfast. 13 voted for option one, 7 voted for option two.
Bill Ray moved the treasurer’s report be accepted as read no second.
Wayne went over the “Candidate Forum” for January 21st. At the City Auditorium at 5:30 pm. Craig Lindholm will moderate and work from pre-approved questions. Please put this on Facebook, if you have it available.
Wayne reminded all that early voting begins Feburary 18th. thru the 28th. With the general election is March 3rd.
Roman was asked for a Friend’s of HAWKS report and said we had a good year and have plans to increase funding. We, currently have about $2,000 in the bank which is dedicated to scholarships. Ken Watts had to resign as chairman due to health issues and Wendal Hildebrandt was appointed to fill Ken’s vacancy. Johnny Wetzel remains as Vice Chair, George Brown is Secretary, and Mike Briggs is Treasurer. Elections for board members will be held in November of 2020 for the year 2021, date to be determined. The board is, currently, exploring ways to raise money. He, then passed out certificates of appreciation.
The “feed the cops” program was funded by the FoH and passing the hat. James Morris stated the “feed the cops” is NOT a charity. $150 was given to Tino-V’s and no figure has come in from Richie’s. This provided lunches from Thanksgiving to New Years.
James Dugger asked if we will be meeting monthly or bi-monthly. Wendal moved that we have a meeting every month and if no speakers are available, someone from our ranks could volunteer to speak. Motion passed unanimously.
Roman asked about a meeting/dinner at Richie’s and was referred to James Dugger, Chairman of the Hospitality Committee. He said he had a dinner scheduled for Jan’s with date and time to be determined.
Wayne closed the meeting

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
George
I finished the minutes and submitted them for posting, however, what was omitted was what I feel, with regards to the club, our club.
Wayne has said over and over we have something for everyone or nothing at all, what ever you prefer or the depth of your desired involvement. I never realized until now just how much involvement one could really miss. When a Doctor looks you in the eye and tells you that without proper medication and by dropping your guard, just a little, your life could take a drastic turn. I will have cellulitus the rest of my natural life and the only way to control it is a constant vigil for bumps, bruises and cuts. At the first sign of swelling it's back to massive doses of ant-biotics or a needle in the arm. This is all leading up to why I chose to write this. I don't live on the edge of the abyss like my friend, Dennis Morey, nor do I have the luxury of good health like, say Dak Prescott, but I do share some great friendships, like the ones Wayne Scott alludes to.
Please take my thoughts on Camaraderie to heart.
Camaraderie is what we all share, or I hope we do. Dennis Morey alluded to it in an email he sent a short time ago. It's, even, in our Mission Statement along with everything the HAWKS stand for, Civic involvement, assistance to young and old shooters alike, and most importantly, support for our Constitution and the Amendments, especially the second.
Does it matter when we break bread? As long as it's together. 7:30, 7:45, 8:07, who cares? Then off to the range, set up targets, begin practicing, bang, bang, bang... Oh!!! CEASE FIRE... Late comers...so what. Take five, reload magazines only!!! Welcome late comers, all are welcome. Range is HOT, continue...
Feed the Cops someone cries. Pass the hat, why not? It's from the heart not the wallet... $365 WOW! And another $150 from the Friends of HAWKS. One winner---The Cops.
Get my drift?
Why do the Three Musketeers keep coming to mind? One for all and all for one!!!
We all have our individual involvements ---VIPs, Scholarships, Wednesday shoots, Feed the Cops, Dinners on the Danube or home after breakfast, grass to cut, animals to feed, or if you're like me---off to the doctor's office.
Our time is short, don't squander it. Be a friend, anybody's friend, that is what COMARADERIE is.
Crap... time for another pill.
Your friend, The Only Ron

BRAVO!!! Jack Wilson should and is receiving his 15 minutes of fame for his courageous act in the West Freeway Church of Christ's attempted mass murder instead of the IDIOT that perpetrated the crime. It's too bad two precious lives were lost before Jack could swing into action.

Ken Watts is back in the hospital in Tyler possibly facing more surgery. He has a possible perforated colon (been there done that) but the doctors are trying to correct with medicines. If surgery is necessary he may require a colostomy permanently. Kay is suffering from failing eye sight, in addition to Ken's problems. We need super charged prayers for this family.

Just called and said Kay Watts had updated him on Ken's condition. They are trying to correct his issues with anti-biotics, if that doesn't work he may be moved to Grapevine under the care of the original Doctor. Let's hope...
As you know, Kay is visually impaired to the point that she may need transportation. If you are available please be on call.
Prayers, of course, for Ken.
Greggo or George please add Ken Watts to our prayer page.
Thanks

I received an email from George Brown, yesterday, explaining that due to his health the minutes for the January meeting have not yet been posted on our web site. If anyone can shed any light on George's condition we would like to know. George is a valued member of our staff and a great HAWK, however, he does live alone and I don't know if anyone can check on him.
Please let us know if there is a problem.

NEW VIRGINIA GOVERNMENT ATTACKS VIRGINIA GUN OWNERS
The following excerpt was taken from an article by Erich Pratt which appeared in the Jan 18, issue of GOA.
The Virginia Supreme Court denied the appeal made by Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL).
And in doing so, the court refused to overturn Governor Ralph Northam’s Lobby Day Gun Ban.
Governor Northam issued a clearly illegal and unconstitutional order on Wednesday, banning guns on the Capitol grounds -- all in attempt to prevent law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms at Lobby Day this coming Monday.
Amazingly, Governor Northam voted for HB 20 in 2012 to prevent governors from doing exactly what Northam did in suspending our Second Amendment rights on state capitol grounds. His actions are completely lawless!
Remarkably, the Virginia Supreme Court did not reject our arguments on the merits, but declined to rule, asserting there was insufficient evidence to determine whether the circuit court abused its discretion.
The Governor has reportedly ordered that there will be a check point (with metal detectors) before one can step onto the Capitol Grounds. Firearms ownership will still be “permitted” outside of the fenced area.
SCAMS TO AVOID

I received the following communucation from the TSRA and I wanted to share it with the rest of the HAWKS.
Governor Abbott Presents White Settlement Hero Jack Wilson With Texas’ Medal of Courage Dear Texas Rifle Association Member: On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott presented the Governor's Medal of Courage to West Freeway Church of Christ hero Jack Wilson at the Governor's Mansion in Austin. From the Governor's press release: "When faced with an evil that few of us will ever comprehend, Jack Wilson responded with strength, bravery, and with love for those in the church that day," said Governor Abbott. "The courage in his actions cannot be understated, and Jack is not only a hero to West Freeway Church of Christ -- he is a hero to the entire State of Texas." TSRA PAC would like to thank Governor Abbott for recognizing Wilson's life-saving actions in White Settlement. We would also like to extend our gratitude not only to Mr. Wilson himself, but to the sponsors and legislative supporters of TSRA-backed laws passed in 2017 and 2019 which expanded the rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves in churches, synagogues or other places of worship: Senate Bill 2065 by Sen. Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) which included language from House bills by former Rep. Matt Rinaldi (R-Farmers Branch) and Rep. John Wray (R-Waxahachie) to allow volunteers providing armed security at places of worship to be exempt from certain requirements of the Private Security Act (2017); and Senate Bill 535 by Sen. Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels) and Rep. Dan Flynn (R-Van) which removed these locations from the list of prohibited places for handgun possession in the Penal Code, clarifying once and for all that controllers of church property, rather than the state, may decide whether to allow License To Carry holders on-premises. THIS DAY IN HISTORY SUBMITTED BY BILL ROGERS
This Day in History: Horace Smith
15 January 2020
Logan Metesh
On January 15, 1893, Horace Smith passed away at the age of 84. He retired 20 years earlier in 1873, having spent most of his life in the arms industry. By the time he became best known as the first half of Smith & Wesson’s namesake, he had already worked a total of 28 years for a number of big names: Springfield Armory, Eli Whitney, Allen & Thurber, and Robbins & Lawrence, just to name a few.
When he was just 16, Horace began as an apprentice at Springfield Armory. Among his first tasks were acting as the assistant to a bayonet forger. After four years, he became a journeyman and worked in a variety of armory departments. He excelled at inventing gun-making machinery and is credited for creating the machine for checkering hammers.
After 18 years of working for the government, he moved from Massachusetts to Connecticut, where he was a toolmaker for Eli Whitney. This was short-lived, and he moved on to Allen & Thurber in just over a year. While working for the pepperbox pistol company, he began making his own arms, namely whaling guns and barrels and an exploding bullet to be used with them.
The years 1850 to 1852 are a little hazy, but we know it was during this time that he met D. B. Wesson and also continued working on designs for repeating arms. The earliest example of his involvement is with a magazine-loaded pistol invented by a couple of other men and manufactured by Horace in 1850.
During this same time period, he was hired to work on improvements to the lever-action rifle invented by Walter Hunt and Lewis Jennings. Wesson knew of the rifle, too, and the two men presumably bonded over the design, its shortcomings, and their thoughts for improving it. In 1852, they formed their first of two partnerships and began producing what we recognize today as the Volcanic line of repeaters. Financial issues in late 1854 led to the partnership’s dissolution, but the two titans wouldn’t be apart for long. On November 18, 1856, a factory ledger notes the reformation of a Smith and Wesson partnership. Wesson contributed $2,003.63 and Smith put in $1,646.68 – and just like that, they were off and running. They paid Rollin White $497 as a licensing fee for his patent on the bored-through cylinder, with an additional royalty of 25 cents per gun.
All told, it cost $4,147.31 (including White’s fee) for the two men to start a company that would go on to become a household name in the firearms business. Adjusted for inflation, that’s approximately $122,600 in 2020 money.
That initial startup cost paid off handsomely. By October 1865 – just shy of nine years later – both Horace and D. B. cleared $163,000 in annual personal income. They were the only two residents in Springfield, Massachusetts, with six-figure incomes.
Smith was 17 years older than Wesson, so when he sold his interest in the company to D. B. on July 1, 1873, at the age of 65, he was ready to retire. The almost-48-year-old Wesson was still in his prime, and it was under his tutelage that the company would grow even more than it had with Smith. In retirement, Horace Smith traveled to see the western frontier, became a student of astronomy, and devoted time and money to his church and the youth in his community. After passing away on January 15, 1893, he was laid to rest in the Smith family plot in Springfield, Massachusetts. His individual headstone in the plot is very simple, giving no indication of his tremendous impact on the arms community.
